Gold Accreditation for the Glebe

We are pleased to be able to announce that pools 1 to 7 at the Glebe have all been awarded a Gold Accreditation under the recently introduced Fisheries Accreditation Scheme.

The Fisheries Accreditation Scheme is a joint venture by the Institute of Fisheries Management, the Angling Foundation and the Professional Coarse Fisheries Association, supported by the Environment Agency. It has been introduced to encourage fishery managers to take responsibility for the proactive management of their fisheries. In doing so, they will greatly improve the quality of the sport fishing by enhancing the habitat, water quality and the other aquatic components of the fish’s environment.

The Scheme is based upon a set of standards that are designed for the welfare of fish within fisheries. Achieving these standards largely centres on the Institute of Fisheries Management codes of practice and its biosecurity codes for the management of stillwater fisheries.

We are one of the first five fisheries in the country to be awarded this accreditation. This is a fantastic achievement for us and highlights the quality of the fish and their environment at the Glebe.
