Winter League 2009-2010

It's winter league time once again. This year we will be running the league over 20 matches. These matches will be in groups of 5 with each angler's best four section placings counting for points towards the league.

To make this notice more challenging for the readers I have also added the dates that there will be a match, but that will not count for the winter league. If you are not sure ask a grown up. The dates are:

GROUP 1
25th Oct
1st Nov
8th Nov
15th Nov
22nd Nov

GROUP 2
29th Nov
6th Dec
13th Dec
20th Dec
27th Dec (not winter league)
3rd Jan (not winter league)
10th Jan

GROUP 3
17th Jan
24th Jan
31st Jan
7th Feb
14th Feb

GROUP 4
21st Feb
28th Feb
7th Mar
14th Mar
21st Mar
28th Mar (not winter league)

As usual, points will be allocated - 10 points for a section win - 9 for second etc. In the event of a tied position in section both anglers will receive the same point score, eg a tie for 1st place both anglers score 10 points with the next placed angler receiving 9 points. Ties in the final league placings will be decided on a total weight score of the anglers counted matches. As usual every effort will be made to make even section numbers for each match. In the event of a freeze-up with not enough free water to run a match for every angler, the match will be canceled from the league and the group will become 3 from 4 matches to count.

Each competing angler will pay £20 pools for each match. From each match there will be £40 taken from the pools to make up the final prize Monies. 20 matches will provide £800 to pay out 6 places.

1st £250
2nd £200
3rd £150
4th £100
5th £60
6th £40

All of our usual club rules still apply, with the only difference being that bread will be allowed from the 25th Oct. Bread must be fished under the water, not floating on the surface.

Please would all anglers endeavour to catch fish and weigh-in at the end of each competition. Any angler catching fish and not weighing-in could be seen as assisting another angler's position. This has happened at other fisheries recently with legal procedings, please weigh-in. The committee will be watching this!

Someone will always be last, if you find this hard to accept and cannot face the weigh-in you can pay £20 to pleasure fish in the match and chuck back, but please make sure the organisers know before the all-in.

The competition is organised as a fun event throughout the winter months, please do not take it too seriously.

As usual I will try to do a weekly report on our club website. This is veiwed by a lot of people around the world, you have been warned!!!

Happy fishing,
Kev Russell
