Ringo
Match report provided by Kev Russell:
The Glebe winter league is coming to an end after what seems like a long and cold winter. The last group of five matches, in which four need to count, was sure to mean a real scrap right to the end, and with our ice rule coming into play, this weekend's match wasn't going to count. There were a few, (18 in fact), nutters prepared to break a good inch of ice on pools 4 and 6, and after a delayed start and some frantic ice breaking, the fishing began. There was soon a 5lb carp caught by Ringo on the first peg on pool 4. This meant some catching up was going to be needed, but most were settling into catching a few fish, mostly small, but very welcome...
A few lessons on ice breaking were quickly learnt - if Dagga says he's got the end of the rope, don't throw the ice breaker too far, because he probably hasn't, and Chris Downs found it's easier to get two good pals to break the ice and get hot and sweaty before he sits down to fish, a privilege of being a superstar perhaps. Next week's report will be the last of the league, and hopefully the weather will be a little kinder.
