Dagga Ward - first ton of the year

Dagga Ward - first ton of the year

Winter league report provided by Kev Russell:

There were 37 anglers fishing this week. After being informed that there had been anglers camped out waiting for a pool 5 peg to practice on during the week I thought I had better put a section on this lake again. At least two of these over-practicers were lucky enough to draw their practised pegs out of the draw bag!

I wasn't lucky enough though and was off down to peg 94 on pool 6 where I found myself next to Scott Brown on 96 and Les Wright on 92. Carl Redman was going to be dangerous on peg 87 and with new member Brian Hill on peg 86 he was looking like the favourite. Shortly after the all-in Carl was playing a carp as was Brian on the little girl's peg. At the other end we were sitting bite-less for the first hour. A switch to the pole with corn instantly rewarded me with two carp and two skimmers but it then dried up. A switch to the pellet kept the skimmers coming for a while but they were only around 6 - 8oz. Rich Wells had started to get a few carp on the lead on peg 89 so for the last two hours I decided to stick it out for a carp but only added two more to my catch. Scott and Les both caught a few carp late on and both had got me worried as it was going to be quite a low weight section. I was happy though with third place from where I had drawn, behind Carl and Richard.

Pool 6
Carl Redman 43-03, peg 87
Rich Wells 25-08, peg 89
Kev Russell 24-07, peg 94

Being directly behind Rob Clayton on pool 7 I was able to witness what must rate as one of his worst matches. He was also suffering from a constant barrage of torment from almost everyone. Rob was threatening to put his tackle on e-bay at one stage but pulled through to get his only bite of the day at 3.30pm, a 10oz skimmer which he proudly weighed-in at the end. Trev Slater was unlucky not to take the win off the peg next to Rob with nearly 56lb of carp and skimmers being just beaten by unbeatable Chris Allen on unfancied peg 99.

Pool 7
Chris Allen 62-06, peg 99
Trev Slater 55-14, peg 106
Albert Bray 27-03, peg 103

On pool 5 Dagga Ward took the first ton of the year with a catch of big carp from the end peg 77. Bob Eaton was also back in the frame taking second from the other end on peg 85, with the Master of Mallory, Gordon Parker, coming in third. It must be mentioned that Dagga has now added this lake to his 'stuck in the mud' list, needing a push to get his 4 x 4 back onto the hard stuff.

Pool 5
Dagga Ward 125-14, peg 77
Bob Eaton 51-06, peg 85
Gordon Parker 42-10, peg 83

Again there were some close results on pool 1:

Section 1
Andy Towers 40-00, peg 7
Jim Chessman 38-09, peg 9
Rob Bowser 28-06, peg 6

Section 2
Gary Miller 47-10, peg 15
Andy Kind 41-10, peg 17
Matt Hall 37-01, peg 14

Section 3
Gordon Priddey 46-02, peg 28
Alex Bones 35-04, peg 26
John Hall 24-05, peg 24

Finally, Dagga promised to go and repair the bank that he destroyed, with his jeep, first thing on Monday morning but I have since been informed that he was too busy counselling Rob Clayton, who was on suicide watch after his appalling performance. He is now better and promising to 'kick some ass' next Sunday.
