Mallory Park Fisheries opened for fishing on 1st June and, as expected, it was awesome. Everyone had a fantastic start to the season, with some anglers catching more than 200lb of quality fish of all species.
Most of the silver fish have spawned and are recovering quickly. There are a few of the bigger carp spawning every day, but if the good weather continues for another week this will be one of the earliest spawnings for many years.
There were too many exceptional catches from every lake to mention. Glebe pool 1 has seen several anglers catching up to 10 tench among all of their other fish and there were dozens of excellent catches of mixed species from this lake.
Pool 2 (Pretty Fish) is so good that anglers are complaining of not having time to eat food. You can blame Alan White for that as he is in charge of the fish stocks in that lake.
The Foundation Lake fished very well with reports of several anglers landing up to 50 carp in a short session. Every method is catching superb fish on every lake.
Our first Monday evening event was on the Foundation Lake (3 hours), with the top three as follows:
Bob Eaton - 103lb
Steve Porter - 96lb
Roy Marlow - 88lb
The Wednesday evening event on Glebe pool 1 was even better with everyone having a great evening (3 hours):
Dom Lanni -120lbs
Roy Marlow - 103lbs
Mick Wilkinson - 88lbs

And finally on the lighter side, Leicester’s Professional Angler, Steve Porter, was upfront with the excuses after the Monday night event, claiming he had lost an estimated 20lb plus carp at the net. Next to him was Over Practice Bob Eaton, who has caught every fish in the lake twice, said that the biggest fish in the lake was 10lb and Steve should have his eyes tested.
We have a new official team competing in our matches; it is called Team Parker with Gordon and Barbara competing as one. This team is very serious and after a disastrous performance on Wednesday night it was noticed that a secret practice session was arranged on the same peg the next day. Batterings have already been promised to anyone who makes any comments about the new team.

Our first Sunday event will be on 8th June and big weights are expected. Watch this space and the reports from honest Roy, Ruthless Russell and Nasty Ward. Bait wise it’s your choice, there does not appear to be any outstanding bait, just bring plenty of it.
