Sunday 6th July 2008

It has been a fantastic week of fishing at the Glebe. The Wednesday evening event on pool 1 produced four 100lb plus weights and was won by Gary Sadler with 158lb from peg 28. Rob 'the Eel' Clayton was over the moon because he was not last, he had a credible performance weighing in 50lb.

The Total Fishing.Com two-day event fished brilliant with several 100lb plus weights each day, topped by a 205lb from peg two on Glebe pool 1. This event was a little different in that day one was running line only, the weights were very close throughout the lakes. It should be noted that Team Parkers are nice people having trained one of the competitors new to the fishery, Gus Nursey, on the Thursday. Gus had two great performances with 98lb on day 1 and 196lb on day 2.

Our own event attracted a record 59 anglers on Sunday. Word had got around regarding the qualifiers that get you into the Champion of Mallory final on Saturday September 13th. If everything goes to plan the winner will receive at least a thousand pounds and there will be another thousand pounds added to the section pay out. Breakfast is included on the final match and the draw will be at Mallory Lakeside, more details and a list of qualifiers later.

The usual very hurtful comments were in abundance on Sunday, it should be noted that we have a website moderator (Russelli) who tones down some of the comments so as not to offend anyone.

Mr Ward yet again was extremely hurtful, especially to The Pensioner, Brian Envis, who had a great result from peg 1 on Pool 1, 'does this geriatric ever draw badly' he said. It should be noted that Mr Ward drew the Little Girl's Peg 86 on pool 6.

Section results

Section 1
Brian Envis - peg 1 - 186lb
Kev Russell - peg 6 - 137lb
Domanic Lanni - peg 7 - 99lb

Section 2
Stu O'Donnell - peg 18 - 117lb
Ian Siager - peg 16 - 112lb
Chris Needham - peg 13 -111lb

Section 3
Matt Hall - peg 27 - 72lb
Paul Jarram - peg 30 - 71lb
Andy Kind - peg 19 - 62lb

Section 4
Roy Marlow - peg 72 - 120lb
Steve Conway - peg 70 - 116lb
Freddy Bennett - peg 75 - 77lb

Section 5
Pete Marlow - peg 76 - 89lb
Bob Eaton - peg 85 - 58lb
Gary Miller - peg 80 - 58lb

Section 6
Gordon Priddy - peg 88 - 102lb
Dagga Ward - peg 86 - 98lb
John Hall - peg 94 - 75lb

Section 7
Paul Gardner - peg 99 - 118lb
Chris Hall - peg 104 - 100lb
Stu Johnson - peg 105 - 93lb

We still have several members on suicide watch. This week we can add Dave Colkin who sat on peg 2 (208lb on Saturday) who quickly disappeared during the match. In the early stages of the match Dominic was in a bit of a state he had drawn between Ruthless Russell and Rob 'the eel' and was getting a 'chip shopping' (battered both sides) but a bit of coaching from Scott and Lisa late in the match ensured a good recovery, he has now been taken off the list.

It must also be noted that although Scott and Lisa had planned a day of relaxation, with a lie in and one of Scott's famous mixed grills for dinner, they had an emergency phone call from young Jarrad who it seems has taken to the drink due to the pressures of trying to qualify for the final. Scott was swiftly to the rescue with a few cans of lager but alas it was too late and poor Jarrad has still to qualify.

Mr. Ward also suggested that Jarrad be put on a curfew at the weekends just to make sure he doesn't drink too much and miss one of the qualifiers.

Former ACA champion Chris Needham is building up his form slowly, that’s good because we do not want him to peak too soon before this year's event on Saturday the 23rd August at the Glebe.

Andy Kind has asked that we point out that he did not draw an end peg this week (First time this season) and that he still got in the frame.

Our ACE Angler Chris Downs won a yellow card for foul language to our nice fish. It did not help when he was pegged next to Steve Conway who showed his true colours by being very hurtful to our ACE all day. Both are now serious contenders for this season's Nasty Trophy. The nicest person on pool 4 was Robber Marlow who had only nice words for everyone as usual.

Pool 5 was very quiet. The normally hurtful Chris Allen was very subdued with a poor performance that will not be mentioned. He was last on the lake and blamed ACE, his travelling companion, for giving him dodgy advice and some of his pills.

Pool 6 saw Dagga on the Little Girl's Peg, he still has not qualified and is now talking about 'wild cards'. The committee does not know what he means. Has anyone seen Team Parkers (Gordon and Barbara), they drew in their usual favourite area in the middle of pool 6 and disappeared rather quickly!

Pool 7 and we have a serious problem. John Duncan requires some very careful counselling, as he was last with 67lb, it does not help when Mr Ward writes on the weigh board that he must try a lot harder.

No pictures this week - Roy has got the film stuck in his digital camera.
